Types of Massage

Swedish Massage is the most widely practiced and best known Western type of massage therapy. It is the "classic" relaxation massage offered in spas. Pressure usually ranges from light to medium, depending on client's preference.

Although wonderful for relaxing and revitalizing, Swedish massage can also release muscle tension, increase circulation of blood and lymph and dissolve scar tissue adhesions. Swedish is a good choice for a first massage.

Deep Tissue is used to access deeper layers of muscle tissue and fascia, and is often combined with trigger point therapy.

Trigger Point Therapy searches out  painful fibrous nodules "knots" in your muscles and connective tissue. These  tender points may also refer pain to other parts of your body.

Typically, your therapist will do a combination of applying static pressure on the trigger points and stretching and manipulating the area to soften the tight, painful tissue.

Sports Massage is used before and in between events during an athletic competition to warm and loosen your muscles. After a competition, it is used to facilitate recovery and rehabilitate injuries.

Many athletes receive regular massage to to help optimize performance by improving flexibility, increasing range of motion and improving muscle balance. Sports Massage can incorporate Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and other types of massage therapy.

Pregnancy Massage, also known as Prenatal Massage, helps ease the discomforts of pregnancy. When regular massage is received throughout pregnancy, your delivery may be easier and labor times shorter.

Foot Reflexology is based on the theory that specific areas on the feet are reflexes to other parts on the body including the internal glands and organs. The reflexes are stimulated using the thumbs or fingers. If you love getting your tired, sore feet rubbed, this is for you!

Chair Massage is performed while seated in a specially designed chair that has a cradle for your head, and arm supports. You are fully dressed for this massage, and it consists mostly of compression and kneading the muscle tissues. A chair massage can be a great choice if you are short on time, and is also a great massage for the workplace!
